7 Days Mt. Kilimanjaro the Marangu Route

This is the most popular and oldest Mt. Kilimanjaro trekking route.

Day 1: Arrival and hotel transfer.
On arrival, you will be met and warmly received by your driver guide from African Crane Safaris who will then brief you as he transfers you to your hotel for overnight (depending on arrival time)

Day 2: Marangu Gate – Mandara hut
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Marangu gate where you will begin your hike to Mandara hut taking about 4 - 5 hours through a beautiful forest with a wide variety of wildlife. Overnight at Mandara hut.

Day 3: Mandara hut - Horombo hut
On this day, you will take about 5 - 7 hours hike through the forest to Moorland with a clear view of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks to the right. Overnight at Horombo hut.

Day 4: Horombo hut - Kibo hut
On this day, you will take about 5 - 7 hours hiking, arriving Kibo hut for overnight.

Day 5: Kibo hut - Uhuru peak.
On this day, we will wake up earlier than before to catch up for an opportunity to see the sunrise from the crater rim.This is a long day taking about 10 hours of hiking. We will walk around the crater rim one of the most spectacular views on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Descent to Horombo hut for overnight.

Day 6: Horombo hut - Marangu gate
On this day, we continue descending for about 4 - 7 hours to the gate where you will be met and received by your driver guide who will then transfer you to Arusha for a relaxed evening, dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Airport transfer.
You will enjoy morning breakfast and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
